The subproject From the Forest to the Sea: Knowledge on the Caiçara Canoe. The Culture of Small-Scale Fishing in the Environmental Protection Area of Cairuçu/RJ is carried out by the Instituto 5 ElementosEducação para a Sustentabilidade and its main objective is to implement community-based tourism in Trindade, Sono, Ponta Negra and Pouso da Cajaíba/RJ. One of the proposed components is to align the culture of the caiçara canoe, small-scale fishing, and the floating enclosure, with community-based tourism. This subproject aims to strengthen the entire chain around the caiçara canoe and rescue the actions and customs of coastal communities related to it, promoting the recovery of stories and stories of culture, experiences for children, youth, and women, workshops and events and training and education courses for the diversification of community activities through community-based tourism. All these actions aim to enable the caiçara communities to connect their tradition with the objectives of sustainable development. As specific objectives, the subproject proposes to cultivate the feeling of belonging and appreciation of traditional culture permeated by the art of fishing, integrated with nature; socioculturally characterize the fishing communities; diversify tourism products and assets; promote a continuous educational process for all involved, focused on tourism and other demands and plan, monitor, evaluate and reinvent to achieve project results.
