APAPG – Institutional Strengthening of APAPG

back

The subproject aims to strengthen the Association of Fisherfolk and Fish Farmers of Pedra de Guaratiba (APAPG) to improve the living and working conditions of fisherfolk and shellfish gatherers in the region, as well as to enhance political resistance and the union of local traditional communities, who depend on Sepetiba Bay for their sustenance and maintenance of their way of life. For this, this initiative has the following goals: improvement of the headquarters’ infrastructure; improvement of public services; improvement of digital accessibility, aiming to meet the demands of carrying out services and access to public policies aimed at fishermen, fisherwomen and shellfish gatherers; training leaders to train generations of fisherfolk, including mainly youth and women; studies on legislation and rights and workshops on digital appropriation and self-registration, so that people gain autonomy.

The subproject will last for 12 months and intends to directly or indirectly benefit small-scale fishermen and shellfish gatherers and their families in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability.
