Suindara: fast and precise response

back

Lead institution: Instituto Cerrados

The project aims to enhance the Suindara app by incorporating improvements identified by users as essential for enabling faster and more accurate responses to fire and heat alerts. The upgraded platform will also support preventive actions, contributing to a reduction in burned areas across the Cerrado. To achieve this overall objective, the following specific objectives, targets, and timelines have been established:

1. Integrate camera-based detection and alert systems: Install at least one field camera integrated into the platform and make alerts available to users within 14 months.

2. Enable photo submission for Incident Occurrence Reports (IORs): Implement this functionality for all users within 10 months.

3. Introduce offline functionality: Provide preloaded data for use without internet connectivity within 14 months.

4. Strengthen the user community: Conduct five workshops with fire brigades and area managers in the project’s target areas to foster engagement, gather user feedback, and produce support materials such as videos and manuals, within an 18-month timeframe.

By the end of the project, Suindara is expected to be a more robust and user-responsive tool, with enhanced features that strengthen wildfire prevention and response, promote collaboration among users, and generate positive impacts for the protection of the Cerrado.
