The Re-Inhabit Spix’s Macaw subproject aims to recover 200 hectares of riparian forest in the watershed of Riacho Melancia, in Curaçá (Bahia) and the steppe savannah, habitat of the Spix’s Macaw (Cyanopsitta spixii), inside the Spix’s Macaw Wildlife Refuge.

The proposal involves the assessment, design, execution, and monitoring of the Plan for the Recovery of Degraded Areas. In addition to planting seedlings and direct sowing, the proposed plan involves the implementation of measures to combat desertification and recover water bodies.

All stages of the work will be accompanied by a communication and training program for the local community, aiming at a greater involvement of the population with the objectives of the Protected Areas targeted by the proposal and with the maintenance of the recovered areas.
