Institution responsible: Agroecological Cooperative of Rural Producers of the Municipality of Alto Paraíso de Goiás and Region – Cooper Frutos do Paraíso
The project focuses on the socioeconomic strengthening of small-scale farmers and promoting the establishment of a green belt in the buffer zone of the Águas do Paraíso State Park, through agroecological production and community-based tourism in rural settlements in the municipality of Alto Paraíso de Goiás, in Chapada dos Veadeiros.
These settlements still resist as guardians of the remaining Cerrado and small-scale farming in the buffer zone of the State Park. Some of the settlers are already developing small community-based tourism initiatives, aimed at promoting the local way of life, but still in an incipient way.
Thus, the project’s motivations are to promote sustainable rural development in two rural settlements, seeking to encourage the improvement of local agroecological production and the insertion of community members in the emerging ecotourism markets present in the territory.
In this way, the project will train 40 small-scale farmers from the settlements in agroecology and establish tourist routes in the two settlements, in addition to creating a communication program to publicize the community-based tourism activities and training local youth to operate it.
