Institution responsible: Association of Rural Producers of Carauari – ASPROC

Açaí production is of great importance to family income of extractivists in the Médio Juruá region, in Amazonas, who face challenges related to variations in marketing routes and outdated prices. ASPROC’s work enables adequate processing of açaí and structures a reliable and fairer chain for producers in the region.

The Development Plan focuses its efforts on structuring an agroindustry for the pulp of forest fruits, focusing on açaí, in Carauari – AM, as well as on increasing the areas under management, protecting native areas and promoting the socioeconomic inclusion of women and young people, leading to an increase in income and added value of production.

The project Fruits of the Forest: Conservation and Sustainable Development in the Middle Juruá has the following main objectives:

Expand production and reduce costs in forest fruit chains, improving management and expanding the reach of community organizations in consumer markets.

Consolidate a community marketing and sales center, equipped to understand the market, develop products and establish solid relationships with customers and distribution centers.

Strengthen the governance of the community-based social organization, focusing on the inclusion of young people and women, aiming to boost the sustainability of socio-biodiversity production arrangements in the Médio Juruá Territory.
