Institution responsible: Association of Agroextractive Producers of Colônia do Sardinha – ASPACS

The Oils from Lábrea Project seeks to strengthen the extractive communities involved in the murumuru chain, improving the quality of the seeds, increasing production and the number of families involved. In this way, it contributes to the generation of income for the associated families and murumuru collectors.

The project is estimated to take 18 months to complete. During this period, it is planned to install 50 solar dryers and 4 murumuru breakers, and acquire a boat to optimize transportation, with the consequent increase in income for the community, thanks to the production of quality raw material and the increase in the number of families benefiting from ASPACS’ actions.

Installing solar dryers improves seed quality by reducing the incidence of parasites, increasing murumuru oil (butter) production by approximately 5%. The dryers provide permanent benefits, as they can be used to dry other seeds, including beans, corn and andiroba.
