GCF TASK FORCE

In the face of the challenges imposed by climate change, nations all over the world must join together to find global solutions. An initiative in that direction was the Climate and Forests Task Force (GCF Task Force), part of an international network of governors from 38 states across 10 countries looking to broaden dialogue on forests and climate change.

In 2021, the GCF Task Force sealed a partnership with FUNBIO to manage resources to support the Environment Secretaries of the Legal Amazon Forum in its bid to design and implement actions focused on low GHG-emissions development. The forum consists of representatives from the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins and Maranhão, all parts of the Legal Amazon Region.

Up until 2022, the actions were coordinated by the University of Colorado, USA, which served as Global Secretary, though this duty has since migrated to the University of California.
