back

Institution Responsible: Centro Dom José Brandão de Castro / João Alexandre de Freitas Neto

The project was implemented in the vicinity of the São Francisco Natural Monument (MONA), in the Canindé de São Francisco region, Sergipe, specifically in the Modelo Settlement and surrounding areas. Its primary objective was the restoration of degraded areas and the recovery of water sources for household and livestock consumption. Additionally, the project aimed to foster participatory and educational processes among farmers, technical teams, local partners, public management, and civil society organizations.

The project also facilitated knowledge exchange, restoration of natural springs, and the planting of native seedlings to regenerate suppressed vegetation. It promoted the interaction and integration of agroecosystems in alignment with semi-arid adaptation strategies, climate change mitigation, and the appreciation of traditional knowledge in dialogue with scientific expertise, with a strong emphasis on agroecological practices.
